Leaving the fair city of Ottawa, Ont behind us.
Waiting to lock through the last 8 locks downtown Ottawa
Heading up to the last locks of the Rideau Canal, downtown Ottawa
Early this morning we moved from Dow Lake to the last locks on the Rideau. We were at the blue line by 6:30 AM We arrived early to take some time to walk around and take some pictures of the beautifull city. The locks did not open until 8:30, but the run up the locks is first, and takes approx. 2 hours to complete before we got on. We had a good time waiting & going through the locks with another boat and the same 2 kayakers we keep running into. It was 11:30 before we got on the Ottawa River and started heading South and East. The river is about 1/2 to 1 mile wide, and had many other boaters on it today. After making good time and going better then 30 miles we decided to call it a day and anchor on the South Nation River, a small river off the Ottawa. Tomorrow we'll see how close to Montreal we get.
